SLOGAN: SOME1 IS LOOKING AT YOU!

    About the Room

I think the first thing I asked myself was:

What should I do with this blank cube?

What do I know about interior design? – ohh ohh

    Google…

    * Basic rules of interior design –enter– * 10 steps Ha!

    pologooglerules

    Conclusion…

    Colors, spaces, concept and identity!

THE SUSPECT is the result of a room that represents a game in its form and dimension. A chain of lights with absorbent and passive colors, while preserving organic materials in the search for the calm that is deserved when visiting the Playland Motel.

Of course I couldn’t forget the art that this room deserves…

Adrien Travis; a Parisian musician, designer and illustrator, based in New York, close friend who I’ve invited to participate in this project because of the quality of his work. Art with meticulous detail, which we have decided to implement in THE SUSPECT.

THE SUSPECT represents observers. Observers that always are searching for something!

A line in time that can make you lose track of the present, feeling!

    About the Artist

From a very young age involved in the interpretation of classic music and Latin-American gospel, then moving on to produce urban beats in 1998, with the creation of his record label in Colombia, and later on in different cities of Europe.

    Audio, video, globalization!
Adaptation of art in new technologies platforms!

Questions in search of answers are what lead him to the realization of documentary projects. Projects that shed light on culture, music and his adaptation to a modern format of music. He denominates his art as an experimental anthropological product brought forth through sound.

    About the Room

Perspective (from Latin perspicere, to see through), The relationship of aspects of a subject to each other and to a whole. Inspired by the works of abstract artists from the 60’s such as Sol Lewitt, Robert Mangold, and Brice Marden who rejected the compositional treatment of form; Mr. Spurr explores the relationship of light moving within a fixed space and the distortion of the natural perspective of the room, with respect to the elements of form, color, line, material and surface.

    About the Artist

Simon James Spurr, is an English born designer most recognizably known for his work as a Men’s Fashion Designer having worked at Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and his former namesake brand SIMON SPURR.

Mr. Spurr continues to define and expand his modern aesthetic within the field of design by blurring the borders between the worlds of art, furniture and interiors. Follow Simon on Twitter @santospurr

Aussie Surfer/Model/Set-builder Bruce Raubenheimer has donated his expertise to craft assorted built-in features for the room, assuring functionality shares equal importance to style.

The color palette of the room is bright and bold, inspired by the sea yet realized with unpredictable details such as colorful marine rope applied to the walls delineating these broad surfaces and containing Shantell’s site-specific installation.

    About the Room
Kate Pane’s room in Playland Motel is a hot and heavy girlhood frolic with glitter sunburns, ponies and wet swimsuits.

    About the Artist

Kate Pane’s work is influenced by childhood, memory and the eager, obsessed, naive lust of the teenage girl. With the premise of a personal narrative, she recreates the presumptive innocence of these pertinent transitions. She received her BFA in painting from Maryland College of Art, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Psychology and Art Therapy.

    Rebirth

    About the Room

An obsession for the song Primitive, by 60′s band the Groupies,  inspired this installation and the essence of an attitude that reflects its raw simplification. This is what our room resembles. A rebirth. A primitive notion to an otherwise over saturated society. Come escape with us.

    About the Artist

I’m an architect at heart, but I have moved on from buildings and interiors.  You can say I’m an architect of structure, vibe and flow.  I design events from the ground up, and I love it.

    About the Room

NYC summers are so hot and full of action, I wanted to create a cool tranquil getaway in the room.  I thought lets make the indoor into the “outdoor”, and transport the guest to a quiet forest in the middle of Rockaway beach.  The room has playful grass to roll or meditate on, and a secret surprise when the lights are off.  Special thanks to my good friend and talented artist Francesco Masci for dropping by the last day to really breath some life into the room, and making it extra special.

    About the Room

My room has iconic, pop detailing with a contemporary beach feel. Simple and clean.

    About the Artist

Pat Conlon’s work is literally taken from outdoor, vinyl billboards and re-appropriated to make his work.  Roxy, which sits above the bed is a piece from “Works of Women” series where I took sex sells and simplified it to sex.  Other pieces through out the room are in the same vain, in addition to a sculpture piece made from the actual boardwalk that was destroyed during Sandy.
